An Overdue Update on "SCALE-SMART"
5/7 parts are done, free sample chapters, and a BIG SORRY to my paid subs
September hit hard. My mother-in-law passed away. I solo-parented for five weeks. Our two-year home renovation entered its final stretch. I averaged 70+ hour weeks and spent the rest of my time with my son.
That left little room for writing. I didn’t publish on FP this month, and I also missed pausing paid memberships. I’m sorry. To make it right: anyone who is a paid subscriber by the end of next week gets 3 months free. I haven’t forgotten you, and I’m grateful to everyone who’s still here.
On the bright side, I finished Part 5 of the book. It’s out now: https://leanpub.com/fps. As usual, I raised the price by about 10% after release. If you bought earlier, you already have the update for free, and you should have received the email by now.
With 5 of 7 parts done, we’re entering the endgame of this book. After I move into the new home on December 1, I’ll have the space to finish the last drafts. My original hope was to wrap by year’s end. That’s looking unlikely. The hardest chapters are written, but the closing parts have to tie everything together. At nearly 700 pages now, likely heading toward ~900, that stitching takes care.
Sales so far: 27 copies. Less than I hoped, not shocking given my near-zero marketing. I also left an easy win on the table: there was no free reading sample. That’s fixed now. If you haven’t peeked at the sales page, now’s a good time, as now there’s a free sample available to download: https://leanpub.com/fps
I plan to purchase an ISBN soon and get the book listed on Goodreads, but as of now, I don’t intend to release paperback versions or resell the book on Amazon. For that, I expect the demand to be too low. It’s simply not the quick-300-pages-of-trash kind of book we see proliferating these days. Instead, it’s a comprehensive and holistic approach to life design, growth, accomplishment, and productivity, which requires space.
That’s it. The next book update is expected to be in early 2026, coinciding with the final release of version 1 of my book. This will not be the end of the journey, though. I have plans for future versions of the book. But it will be the point at which I consider myself an author with a published book.
